Call for participation

Dear Colleagues,
The third international school-seminar “Evolutionary, Systems Biology & High Performance Computing Bioinformatics” will take place at Akademgorodok (Novosibirsk, Russia) under the auspices of the BGRS’2008 (Bioinformatics of the Genome Regulation and Structure-2008). The main focus of this interdisciplinary school-seminar will be timely problems of applied supercomputer calculations in resolution of bioinformatics, evolutionary and system biology issues. Leading specialists from Russia and other countries will give lectures on timely issues that arise in parallel computations in biology, particularly in phylogenetic tree building, structural – functional analysis of macromolecules, systems biology.

The program will include the following sections:

  • Introduction to supercomputers and high-performance computing

  • Parallel computing in bioinformatics

  • Parallel computing and algorithms for building phylogenetic trees

  • Theoretical models for genetic macromolecule evolution

  • Computer systems biology

  • Application of theoretical models in analysis of genetic macromolecules evolution

A session of oral and poster reports of young scientists will be held at the school (the presentation is not required). Young scientists will have the opportunities to present their own work (posters or oral presentations) for discussion. The participants intending to present their contribution as poster or oral report are requested to submit an abstract of 1 printed page in English by e-mail in Microsoft Word file. The decision on acceptance will be communicated by May 1, 2006. Please find abstract format information at the Call for abstract page. Prizes will be awarded for the best presentations, including three awards for the oral presentations and one award for poster presentations.

Prizes (up to $100) will be awarded for the best presentations, including three awards for the oral presentations and one award for poster presentations.
