Seminar «Systems biology of programmed cell death»

Seminar «Systems biology of programmed cell death» is dedicated to issues, investigated under scientific work supported by Russian Science Foundation grant “Programmed cell death induced via death receptors: Delineating molecular mechanisms of apoptosis initiation via molecular modeling” № 14-44-00011.

The project is aimed to the development of small molecules targeting the key components of the death receptor-mediated apoptotic pathway and use these compounds in the following studies of the mechanisms of apoptosis regulation. This will be achieved by computational molecular modelling and systematic structure-based molecular docking screens on the core proteins of DISC combined with experimental validation on the human cancer cell lines and mouse models. These small compounds would target the key Inhibitors of the death receptor pathway, which would allow to specifically activate apoptosis via death receptors. Furthermore, these studies would pave the way to the pionering discoveries in the field of cell death and would allow to discover new therapies for the treatment of diseases associated with defects in the death receptor system.

The seminar will take place on 24th of August at 9.00 in the conference hall (main building, 3rd floor), ICG SBRAS.
