Letter of invitation to participants of the Round Table Discussion:

The Organizing Committee of BGRS-2000 invite you to participate in the discussions of “Round Table” on the problems of functional organization and evolution of Molecular Genetic Regulatory Systems (MGRS) and Genetic Language, and represent a short communication.

The principle topics of discussion are:

MGRSs:

Module of self-reproduction,

Module of methabolic control,

Module of ontogenetic control,

Archive of genetic information,

MGRS and evolution.

Genetic Language:

Linguistic system of Genetic language,

Genetic Language and MGRS,

Genetic Language of regulatory elements of MGRS,

Procariotes and Eukaryotes,

Genetic Language and evolution.

We propose to you to express your propositions and wishes about the topics of this discussion and formulate your view point (up to 5 min.) on the proposed problems. To inform participants about topics and view points we propose you to send us information about your contribution. That could be theses, report or reprint of article in electronic form. All these materials will be exposed on the site of our Conference in section “Round Table” a month before Conference.

We hope to publish the Issue of discussion in printed and electronic (INTERNET) form.

Curators of “Round Table”,

Profs. V.A.Ratner, E.N.Trifonov

Preliminary list of invited speakers:

Prof. V.A.Ratner, Institute of Cytology and Genetics, SB RAS, Novosibirsk, Russia

Prof. V.A. Ratner suggest to discuss the problems of of functional organization and evolution of Molecular Genetic Regulatory Systems (MGRS) and submitted additional material related to these topics:

“Comparative analysis of a problem of self-reproduction in assemblies of macromolecules”

Paper by Vadim A. Ratner

“The genetic language – modern view point (the rules and regularities of the coding of genetic information)”

Paper by Vadim A. Ratner

“Comparative Genomics of the Archaea (Euryarchaeota): Evolution of Conserved Protein Families, the Stable Core, and the Variable Shell” (Abstract)

Paper by Kira S. Makarova, L. Aravind, Michael Y. Galperin, Nick V. Grishin, Roman L. Tatusov,  Yuri I. Wolf, and Eugene V. Koonin

Prof. E.N.Trifonov, Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel

Prof. E.N. Trifonov would like to add to “Genetic language” the topic “Functionality of non-coding sequences”.

He also suggest to replace the title abbreviation MGRS in “Regulatory

Genomics”.

Prof. R.M. Hofestaedt, Otto-von-Guericke Universitaet Magdeburg, Magdeburg, Germany

Prof. R.M. Hofestaedt would like to discuss the “molecular information

fusion” problem. That means that we have a lot of molecular database systems in the internet and that the user would like to have an integrative access regarding his specific application tool.

Dr. A.E. Kel, Institute of Cytology and Genetics, SB RAS, Novosibirsk, Russia

Dr. A.E. Kel submitted the following paper to be included in Round Table discussion:

“Flexibility of the transcription regulatory code” by Kel A.E., Ratner V.A.

Prof. J. Collado-Vides, CIFN-UNAM, Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico

Prof. N.A. Kolchanov, Institute of Cytology and Genetics, SB RAS, Novosibirsk, Russia
