Call for participation

The Third International Conference on Bioinformatics of Genome Regulation and Structure (BGRS’2002) will be held July 14-20, 2002, in Akademgorodok, Novosibirsk, Russia. BGRS 2002 will continue the traditions of the previous conferences BGRS’98 and BGRS 2000.

BGRS’2002 provides a forum for the presentation of work on accumulation, analysis and recognition of genomic regulatory sequences. The researchers working in the fields of experimental biology are also welcome, because BGRS’2002 intents to be a stimulating event to facilitate an application of computational biology to experimental research.

BGRS 2002 aims to cover current developments in research on the following aspects of bioinformatics:

  • Regulatory genomic sequences: databases, knowledge bases, computer analysis, modeling and recognition;
  • Large-scale genome analysis and functional annotation; gene structure finding and prediction; regulatory genomic sequences recognition;
  • Quantitative activity of regulatory genomic sequences: methods for analysis and prediction;
  • Comparative and evolutionary genomics; computer analysis of genome polymorphism and evolution;
  • Models of transcription, splicing and translational control;
  • Structural genomics; aspects of protein structure and structural genomics related to regulation;
  • Gene networks, signal transduction pathways and metabolic pathways: databases, knowledge bases, computer analysis, and modeling;
  • Modelling intercellular communication;
  • Virtual cell;
  • Interactive links between Bioinformatics and experimental research on functional genomics (Micro array/biochips and other modern genome technologies);
  • Data warehousing, Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining in functional genomics and proteomics;
  • Superlarge computer systems in molecular biology and molecular genetics, high performance computing in functional and structural genomics and proteomics;
  • Bioinformatics and education;

Scientific program of the conference will include plenary lectures, symposia, poster sessions, computer demonstrations, round table discussions and tutorials.
