Genetics, Breeding and Biotechnology of Plants and Microorganisms

The study in fields of Genetics, Breeding and Biotechnology of Plants and Microorganisms is aimed at finding new genes for resistance to abiotic and biotic factors of the environment have always been the center of attention of geneticists and breeders as the control and use of the interaction of genotype-environment is an important aspect of increasing yields of various crops. The need for these works is preserved in our time due to the fact that the observed changes in climatic conditions in the areas of cultivation of plants lead to a loss of stability of varieties to pathogens, which adversely affects the yield. As part of this section, the results of the successful application of technology for genetic mapping, the QTL-analysis and marker-oriented selection, aimed at the identification and introduction to cultivated plants of new genes  controlling resistance to fungal, bacterial and viral diseases and pests, adverse climatic stability and soil conditions will be considered.

Nowaday microorganisms are widely used in baking, winemaking, brewing, production of many dairy products. Using them helps to receive antibiotics, proteins, hormones, amino acids, various enzymes, vitamins, and other drugs. Microorganisms have been used in wastewater treatment plants, improving soil quality, as participants in producing manganese, chromium, copper, with the resumption of development of dumps of old mines, where conventional mining methods are uneconomical. The newest methods of genetics, breeding and biotechnology of microorganisms for the solution of actual problems of development of new drugs, more effective technologies in food industry and recycling will be considered under this section.
