Molecular genetic systems

The central objects of the Systems Computational Biology are molecular genetic systems or so-called gene networks – ensembles of coordinated functioning genes, RNA, proteins and metabolites, operating at the level of cells, tissues, organs, organisms and providing  formation of phenotypic traits (molecular, biochemical, cellular, physiological, morphological, physiological, behavioral, and others.)  specific for organisms of different species based on information encoded in the genomes. The study of gene expression regulation and reconstruction of gene networks is a key for understanding the mechanisms of the functioning of living organisms, and the identification of patterns of cells and organs. The study of molecular-genetic mechanisms of the influence of genetic variation on gene networks, operating at the level of cells, tissues, organs and the human body is one of the central tasks of the fundamental biology and biomedicine. Computer study of functional response of gene networks, in particular the immune response to environmental factors is especially actual as the emerging medical uses of computer genomics techniques. In addition to applications in medicine, an application of the system-biological approaches in biotechnology, plant genetics, bioengineering model organisms-producers, such as yeast, fungi, algae (cyanobacteria) are essential. Practical exercises will include computer classes on modeling gene networks, training in the use of analysis methods of gene networs.
